Description
Overview
This vast cloudbound demiplane is home to the Storm King Aurum Aethelos and his giant kin. Unlike constructed demiplanes, it is a naturally occurring pocket of reality shaped by elemental air and ancient giant magic.
Physical Properties
The realm consists of:
- Endless skies in shades of gold, blue, and storm-grey
- Massive cloud formations solid enough to support cities and structures
- Floating landmasses drifting slowly through the firmament
Gravity is weaker than on the Material Plane, allowing for great leaps and slow descents.
Planar Adjacency
The realm is rarely accessible, but known entry methods include:
- Enormous magical beanstalks reaching into the sky
- Giant-crafted portals or rituals
Magic on the Plane
Air and storm magic are greatly enhanced. Lightning, wind, and weather-based spells are especially potent.
Inhabitants
- Cloud Giants – artisans, nobles, and scholars
- Storm Giants – including Aurum Aethelos himself
- Lesser servants, creatures of air, and possibly bound elementals
Cosmological Role
The realm serves as a giant stronghold and royal domain, removed from mortal politics yet occasionally influencing events below.
Planar Travel
Travel is difficult without giant guidance. Those who fall from the realm risk plummeting back to the Material Plane—if they are not caught by drifting cloud formations.
