Summary

After recovering from their earlier battles, the students continue their exploration of the catacombs beneath Neverwinter. Their search leads them through ancient tombs tied to the Hallwinter family, where they encounter a lost spirit and ultimately help restore her identity.
With new information about cult activity and dangers ahead, the party presses deeper, battling undead and uncovering a sealed passage that leads further underground. Exhausted, they choose to rest before continuing.

Back Into the Catacombs

• After resting in the tunnel, the students:
  • Regain their strength
  • Continue exploring the catacombs beneath Neverwinter
• They pass through a secret door:
  • Entering a tomb chamber
  • Begin searching the area

The Hallwinter Tomb

• The party discovers a sarcophagus:
  • Carved with two women gazing over a city
  • Marked with a family crest
• Vigilius recognises the crest:
  • It belongs to the Hallwinter family
• Eremis finds:
  • A shield bearing the same crest
• Eremis, with help from Redrnic:
  • Opens the sarcophagus
  • Prods the skeletal remains to confirm they are truly dead

The Forgotten Spirit

• The party enters a rotunda:
  • They encounter a ghostly humanoid in plate armour
  • Its head is replaced by a featureless, glowing orb
• Attempting conversation:
  • The spirit has no memory of its identity
  • It pleads with the party for help
• The party agrees to assist:
  • Then continues exploring

The Second Tomb

• In another chamber, the party finds:
  • A second sarcophagus
  • Carvings of the same two women, now exploring a forest
  • Several arcane runes
• Harry and Milfjord search the room:
  • They find:
    • A gold locket
    • A spell scroll
    • Several sticks of incense
• Milfjord attempts to smoke the incense
• Harry opens the locket (after some difficulty):
  • Inside is:
    • A portrait of a woman
    • The inscription: “My dearest Chanelle”
• Eremis once again:
  • Opens the sarcophagus
  • Prods the remains

Reuniting the Dead

• Milfjord:
  • Removes the skeletal remains from the sarcophagus
  • Carries them back to the first tomb
• He places the remains together:
  • Arranging them in a loving embrace
• The party pieces things together:
  • They return to the spirit

Chanelle Hallwinter

• The party asks if the spirit is Chanelle Hallwinter
• Upon hearing her name:
  • The spirit transforms
  • Her form becomes that of a woman with a restored face
• Chanelle:
  • Thanks the party
  • Shares what she knows

Key Information:

• Grey-cloaked figures have passed through recently
• One chamber ahead has been overrun by zombies
• The party bids her farewell:
  • And continues onward

The Zombie Crypt

• The party enters the warned chamber:
  • Confronts a horde of zombies
• The fight is efficient:
  • Lyra uses Moonbeam to great effect
  • Redrnic cuts down enemies with his greataxe
• After clearing the room:
  • They discover it is a crypt containing a shrine to Oghma

Restoring the Shrine

• The shrine is in disrepair
• Lyra, Redrnic and Eremis:
  • Clean and restore it
  • Rededicate it to Oghma
• After doing so:
  • They feel the source of the undead disturbance has been resolved

The Sealed Door

• Continuing deeper, the party finds:
  • A large double door of green-tinged stone
• Opposite the door:
  • A carving of a grinning skull
  • One socket holds a jewelled eye
  • The other is empty
• Harry:
  • Places the desecrated eyeball from Delvin Fearnehart into the empty socket
• Result:
  • A hidden mechanism triggers
  • A staircase opens behind them, leading downward

End of Session

• Eremis, tired and hungry, suggests resting
• The party:
  • Returns to the crypt
  • Sets up camp
• Harry:
  • Casts an alarm spell for safety
• The group:
  • Cooks food
  • Rests for the night
