General
Phandalin is a small frontier town located south of Neverwinter along the Triboar Trail. Though modest in size, the settlement has become increasingly prosperous thanks to renewed mining efforts and growing trade connections.
The town attracts miners, merchants, adventurers, and settlers hoping to build new lives on the frontier.
Geography
Phandalin lies near the foothills of the Sword Mountains, surrounded by forests, hills, and old ruins dating back to ancient kingdoms.
Nearby locations include:
- Wave Echo Cave – legendary mine rich with magical history.
- Conyberry – abandoned village east of town.
- Neverwinter Woods – dangerous forest to the north.
- Icespire Peak – mountain home to monsters and dragons.
History
Phandalin was originally part of the ancient settlement of Phandelver, which prospered through mining and trade alliances between humans, dwarves, and gnomes.
The original settlement was destroyed centuries ago by orcs and monsters. In recent years, settlers rebuilt the town, and the rediscovery of Wave Echo Cave brought renewed prosperity.
By the early 1500s DR, Phandalin has become a growing frontier community balancing opportunity with constant danger.
