Biography

Manthrak the Meticulous was a mechanomancer trained in the deep forges of Gauntlgrym, where the line between dwarven craftsmanship and arcane invention has long since blurred into a single discipline. He arrived at his calling young, finding more kinship with gears and crystal matrices than with the traditional stonework of his kin, and left the forge-city to pursue a stranger kind of artifice — one that thought, and occasionally talked back.
Unaffiliated with any College, Manthrak holds the unusual distinction among visiting specialists of being invited back as often as he is asked to leave. He believes that true invention requires risk, that caution is simply imagination's excuse for cowardice, and that any creation worth making is one that might, on a bad day, escape containment entirely. He is rarely troubled by the resulting chaos, regarding it less as failure and more as data.
His field workshop on the edge of Neverwinter Woods — and the rolling, rumbling tower that occasionally results from his work there — reflects Manthrak's philosophy rather neatly: brilliant, unpredictable, and a little bit dangerous to be near when something finally goes wrong.
