Mage Tower
Overview
Mage Tower is one of the most popular and chaotic student games at Neverwood Academy, blending teamwork, strategy, and just a touch of magical mayhem. While the game itself is played year-round between student groups, its pinnacle is the Neverwinter Mage Battle—a major intramural event held in Neverwood Stadium for prestige, bragging rights, and valuable Group Cup recognition.
Each team represents their chosen Neverwood mascot, sending their finest students onto the field in a fast-paced contest of agility, spellcraft, and coordination. Though the rules are simple, the execution rarely is.
Mage Tower Rules
The rules of Mage Tower at Neverwood Academy are as follows:
- Each team consists of an equal number of students, usually no more than five participants.
- Each team is represented by a small magical mascot creature tied to one of Neverwood’s groups.
- At the start of the game, both mascots are placed atop towers at opposite ends of the field.
- The objective is to steal the opposing team’s mascot and return it safely to your own tower. Each successful capture scores 1 point.
- The game is played over three phases, each lasting 20 minutes.
- The team with the highest score at the end of the third phase wins.
Conduct & Fouls
- Any action that could cause serious harm to players, mascots, spectators, or the field of play is strictly prohibited.
- Dangerous or excessive use of magic may be called as a foul by the referee (typically a faculty member during official matches).
- A participant who receives three fouls is ejected from the game.
- Teams cannot replace players who are removed due to fouls.
Neverwood Mascots
Each team must choose one of the following mascots to represent them in Mage Tower:
- Art Elemental (Prismari)
- Fractal (Quandrix)
- Inkling (Silverquill)
- Pest (Witherbloom)
- Spirit Statue (Lorehold)
The Neverwood Mage Battle Event
Leading up to the Neverwinter Mage Battle, student groups are given time to prepare—settling rivalries, refining tactics, and, most importantly, choosing their mascot.
Teams must bring their chosen mascot with them to Neverwood Stadium on the day of the event.
Win the game.
Claim the glory.
Try not to get launched off a tower in the process.
