Adjacent to the Sedgemoor wetlands lies the Detention Bog, a marshland of thick mud, stagnant water, and unnaturally dense vegetation. Officially part of the Witherbloom disciplinary system, the bog is used as a supervised corrective environment for students who have violated campus rules. Assignments here are rarely pleasant, but are designed to build resilience, resourcefulness, and practical magical skill.
Despite its reputation, the Detention Bog is far from lifeless. It is home to a wide variety of resilient flora and fauna, some of which possess unique alchemical properties. Faculty often assign supervised collection tasks as part of restorative work, allowing students to gather ingredients for potions, cures, or controlled curses under strict oversight.
The bog’s atmosphere is heavy and oppressive, with mist that clings to clothing and sounds that carry in strange, distorted ways. Yet for Witherbloom scholars, it is also a place of hidden value—an ecosystem that rewards patience, caution, and careful study of nature’s harsher forms.
