Biography
Adalynn Blackstone is curiosity given form - bold, clever, and endlessly drawn toward the unknown. Where others see danger, Ada sees opportunity; where others hesitate, she steps forward with a grin and a spell already forming.
Early Life
Adalynn remembers little of her life before Reynard Blackstone. Adopted as a young child, she was raised alongside Harry in Gillian’s Hill, forming a bond with him that would define much of her life.
Under Reynard’s guidance, Ada received a broad magical education spanning all eight schools of magic. While competent in all, she quickly showed a natural affinity for:
- Illusion – shaping perception and bending reality
- Enchantment – influencing thoughts, emotions, and behaviour
Though talented in both, Ada made a deliberate choice to focus primarily on Illusion. She understands the ethical dangers of enchantment - and while she is not above bending the rules, she prefers not to break minds to do so.
That said, Reynard’s influence is still evident in her spellwork, particularly in her surprising proficiency with evocation magic, especially lightning-based spells.
The Tomb & The Underdark
Gillian’s Hill sits atop something ancient - and Ada was never going to ignore that.
Her curiosity led her into the tomb beneath her home at a young age, where she discovered winding passages that connect to the The Underdark. What began as exploration quickly became habit.
Now, Ada frequently:
- Joins passing adventuring parties
- Guides groups into the tomb and beyond
- Seeks out relics, knowledge, and experiences others would avoid
She is as much an explorer as she is a spellcaster.
Personality
Ada is:
- Social and charismatic, able to connect easily with others
- Impulsive and curious, often acting before fully considering consequences
- Morally flexible - but not cruel, guided more by instinct than doctrine
One notable trait: Ada has no interest in her birth parents. Unlike Harry, she feels no pull toward the unknown past. As far as she is concerned, her family is the one she chose - and that chose her.
Relationship with Harry
Ada’s most important relationship is with her brother, Harry.
They are, in many ways, opposites - and that is precisely why they work.
- Ada draws Harry out of isolation, grounding him socially
- Harry anchors Ada’s impulses with a strong moral compass
Together, they balance each other. Apart, they risk becoming exaggerated versions of their worst traits.
That said, they share two dangerous qualities: - Obsessive curiosity
- A complete disregard for authority
This combination has led them into trouble more times than either would care to admit.
Current Life
Ada continues to reside in Gillian’s Hill but is rarely still for long. Whether joining adventurers or leading expeditions into the depths below, she is always chasing something - knowledge, excitement, or simply the next story waiting to be told.
