The staff of Neverwood Academy are the backbone of the institution, responsible for the education, safety, and development of its students. Drawn from across the realms, these individuals are masters of their respective disciplines, each bringing unique philosophies and magical specialisations into the classroom.
Beyond their academic duties, staff members also play a crucial role in maintaining the Academy’s magical infrastructure, enforcing its rules, and safeguarding its many secrets—some of which lie buried deep within the forest itself. While many present themselves as scholars and mentors, others are far more enigmatic, their true motives and pasts known only to a select few.
In times of crisis, the staff act as Neverwood’s first line of defence, coordinating efforts to protect students and preserve the Academy. However, differing ideologies and hidden agendas can sometimes lead to tension within their ranks.

Membership

Membership within the Neverwood Academy staff is highly selective. Individuals are typically invited based on exceptional skill, reputation, or prior affiliation with magical institutions.
Staff roles include:

• Head Teacher and Senior Leadership - Responsible for overarching decisions and the direction of the Academy.
• Professors - Expert educators aligned with specific disciplines and, often, one of the Academy’s colleges.
• Guidance and Student Support - Counsellors and advisors who oversee student wellbeing and progression.
• Administrative Personnel - Those who manage records, timetables, and interdepartmental coordination.
• Groundskeepers and Maintenance Staff - Including both humanoid workers and constructs tasked with maintaining the campus and repairing damage.
• Special Appointments - Visiting lecturers, guest speakers, and specialists brought in for unique purposes.
  Some staff members reside permanently on campus, while others appear only when needed - sometimes arriving under mysterious or unexplained circumstances.

The Five Founding Dragons

The true creators and ultimate authorities of Neverwood Academy. Rarely seen and even more rarely understood, these ancient beings guide the long-term fate of the institution. Their motives are often inscrutable, and their influence is felt more through decree than presence.

The Oracle of Neverwinter

A mysterious intermediary who serves as the voice of the Founding Dragons. The Oracle receives their will—through visions, prophecy, or other unknowable means—and interprets it into actionable guidance. These instructions are then passed down to the Head Teacher, shaping the direction of the Academy.

Head Teacher

The highest visible authority within the Academy. Responsible for implementing the will of the Oracle (and, by extension, the Dragons), as well as overseeing all academic, administrative, and disciplinary matters.

Senior Faculty / College Deans

Experienced professors who oversee specific schools of study or colleges, shaping curriculum and guiding other faculty members.

Professors and Lecturers

The primary educators of the Academy, responsible for teaching, research, and student mentorship.

Guidance Counsellors and Student Services

Operate alongside faculty but outside strict academic hierarchy, focusing on student welfare and development.

Support and Administrative Staff

Essential personnel who ensure the Academy functions smoothly behind the scenes.

Maintenance and Auxiliary Staff

Includes groundskeepers, magical constructs, and other workers who maintain the physical and magical integrity of the campus.

Despite this structure, influence within the Academy is not determined by rank alone—knowledge, magical power, and proximity to the Oracle can grant individuals significant, unofficial authority.
