Mira’s Marginalia
General
Location: Protector's Enclave,Neverwinter
Category: Shop
Tucked along a quiet lane in the south-western quarter of Neverwinter, Mira’s Marginalia is the sort of shop one only finds by accident — and then struggles to leave.
The exterior is unassuming: a narrow frontage, slightly faded paintwork, and a small handwritten card in the window that reads:
“Open (probably).”
Inside, the space is warm, crowded, and densely shelved from floor to ceiling. Books are stacked in columns, cross-stacked atop other books, and occasionally shelved sideways. The organisation system appears chaotic to the untrained eye. Mira insists it is perfectly logical.
A woven teleportation mat near the rear counter marks a formal (if somewhat reluctant) rental arrangement with Neverwood Academy. While Mira does not care for unexpected magical arrivals, the steady income ensures the mat remains in place.
Stock & Specialities
Mira’s Marginalia deals in:
- Antiquarian and out-of-print books
- Hand-annotated travel guides
- Maps of Neverwinter (current and historical editions)
- The occasional arcane curiosity (minor enchanted bookmarks, marginalia that shifts overnight, self-updating errata slips)
Her selection is small but carefully chosen. She does not haggle. She does not offer discounts. She does not price match.
If something is not on display, it may still exist somewhere within the shop — but customers must ask directly.
Reputation Among Students
Neverwood students know Mira’s Marginalia as:
- The best place to find an obscure citation the night before a deadline
- The only shop in Neverwinter that reliably stocks accurate city maps
- A dangerous location for those who say “just popping in for a minute”
Those who treat the books with care may find Mira surprisingly accommodating.
Those who dog-ear pages will not be welcomed back.
