Early Life (1474–1492 DR)

Alex Fallowridge was born on the outskirts of Neverwinter to a family of teamsters and stable hands who worked the roads between the city and its surrounding settlements. From a young age, Alex learned the practical realities of transport: broken wheels, bad weather, unreliable animals, and the ever-present risk of bandits or monsters.
What set Alex apart was not strength or magic, but obsession. He was fascinated by efficiency — which routes were fastest, which loads caused strain, how weather changed travel times. As a teenager, he spent more time sketching maps and timing deliveries than he did actually riding the wagons.
His first encounter with a trained griffin — used by a noble courier — was a turning point. Watching a message arrive in minutes rather than days left a permanent mark.

The Griffin Years (1492–1500 DR)

Alex spent his twenties chasing every scrap of knowledge he could about griffins:

• Apprenticing briefly with handlers in the Sword Mountains
• Working dangerous short-term contracts with messenger companies
• Accumulating debts, favours, and scars in equal measure
  He never learned to ride well at first — a fact he now cheerfully admits — but he learned how griffins think, what stresses them, and how to train them without cruelty. This period shaped his core philosophy:

A stressed mount is an unreliable mount.

By 1500 DR, Alex had a workable plan, a small network of contacts, and just enough capital to attempt something foolish.

Founding GRIFFT (1501 DR)

GRIFFT was born out of equal parts ambition and stubbornness. Alex pooled his savings, sold off nearly everything he owned, and secured three trained griffins on long-term contracts. The early months were rough:

GRIFFT Today (1508 DR)

At 34, Alex Fallowridge remains deeply involved in daily operations. He is not wealthy, but he is respected — especially among merchants, messengers, and students who value speed over spectacle.
He is known for:

• Treating griffins as partners, not property
• Being quietly furious with magical teleportation guilds that dismiss his work as “quaint”
  Alex has no immediate plans to expand beyond Neverwinter and its surrounding areas, believing that “getting it right here” matters more than overreaching.
